On November 2, 1930 Ras Tafari Makonnen and his wife Menen Asfaw were crowned at the same time at the insistence of the Emperor himself. Prior to this time it was Ethiopian tradition that the Queen would be crowned separately from her husband.
"Look for the man of R"! was the call that led many Rastafari faithful to leave Babylon and seek the Black Christ 'ten miles out of the bloody city' on Bobo Hill, Bull Bay, Jamaica. The Black five point star with the "R" represents the Black Man and Woman in righteousness of salvation.
